What is Hulu Plus?

Hulu Plus, a monthly subscription service, was launched in beta (preview) on June 29, 2010 and officially launched on November 17, 2010. It is a website and over-the-top (OTT) subscription service offering ad-supported on-demand streaming video of TV shows, movies,webisodes and other new media, trailers, clips, and behind-the-scenes footage from NBC, Fox, ABC, CBS, Nickelodeon, and many other networks and studios. Similar to Netflix, it offers unlimited movies and dramas for the price of USD7.99 per month.

What is the Update?

For those who are not aware, Apple has quietly updated the list of apps in the Apple TV and the latest update include Hulu Plus. And for those who do not want to use netflix, you can opt for this service instead. You will get a 1 week trial upon registration. But remember, you will need to key in your billing information and if should you forgot to cancel the trial, you will be charge automatically. 

How to use the apps?

Again, Malaysian will not be able to watch Hulu Plus since its only for US citizens only. So, in order to use the apps you MUST HAVE a VPN service. I mentioned this in my previous post about netflix. The one I'm currently using is UNBLOCK-US . Those who are new to it can opt to register for a free trial through the website and after activating the service, you can then go to your Apple TV to start your Hulu Plus app. But make sure your location are set to United States in the settings. The difference between Netflix app and Hulu Plus app is that, for Hulu Plus, you can choose to pay using your US iTunes account. However, you need to make sure there are credit in your accounts.
