Great News for Apple Fans

Most of us knew that the next upcoming Apple Event will be held on 12th September 2012. The main objective for this event is rumoured to cater for the launch of the new iPhone.

Can this be an iPhone 5?

Apparently not… it's just an ad designed by a Apple Fan. Anyway, we will get to know soon enough.

The real GREAT news for this update was actually on the iPad mini. The event was planned sometime around October, one month after the iPhone 5 launch.

According to AllThingsD now backs up the claim with its own sources saying that Apple is planning for an iPad mini introduction in October.
Apple’s next generation iPhone and its so-called “iPad mini” will debut at two separate events this fall, rather than a single one as has been widely speculated, according to several sources. [...]

Only after the next generation iPhone is out the door and on sale will Apple announce the smaller iPad it’s been working on. That device, which is expected to have a display of less than eight inches, will be uncrated at a second special event, which sources said is currently scheduled for October.

So Apple fans out there… stay tune for the latest updates!!

The rumoured iPad Mini 7.85 inches in the middle

Enjoy and cheers…

Great News For Samsung Galaxy S3

Hi,

Been M.I.A. for the past few days. Was busy with office works and meetings. No time to go through news and also couldn't spend time to update my blog.

Today I found a great news for the Samsung Galaxy S3 user and would like to share with you guys.

According to gsmarena, there are users who successfully upgrade their S3 to Jelly Bean, although the date set for the official release will be somewhere around 29th August 2012.

Samsung Galaxy S3 with Jelly Bean

The developer team promised a great experience for Android 4.1 a.k.a. Jelly Bean, and based on reviews from Galaxy Nexus users, its indeed a better OS than Ice Cream Sandwich.

Just hope that it will be the same for the S3. Those who are using S3, REJOICE!!!!

Here is a video on S3 using Jelly Bean.

Enjoy the video...

New Product - Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 -

If you think your Samsung Galaxy Note is big, think again. With the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, it's like using a tablet to make calls, send sms, or even mms.

Here are some of the official photos for the GN10.1

You might be wondering since Samsung just launched the Galaxy Tab 2, why come out with another tablet? Again, this is no ordinary tablet. Unlike the Galaxy Tab 2, this GN10.1 comes with amazing specs.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 at a glance:

  • Form factor: Tablet
  • Dimensions: 262 x 180 x 8.9 mm
  • Weight: 600g
  • Display: 16M-color 10.1" PLS LCD capacitive touchscreen of WXGA resolution (1280 x 800 pixels)
  • OS: Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, TouchWiz UI
  • Chipset: 1.4 GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos 4 Quad chipset, 2GB of RAM
  • Connectivity: Voice and data connectivity with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and quad-band (850/900/1900/2100 MHz) UMTS, 21 Mbps HSDPA and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps support, video calls, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Assisted GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, 30-pin connector
  • Memory: 16/32/64GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via a microSD card slot
  • Camera: 5 MP autofocus camera, LED flash with 720p video recording, 1.9MP front-facing camera
  • Battery: 7,000mAh Li-Ion
  • Misc: Infrared port, gyro sensor, accelerometer sensor for automatic UI rotation, ambient light sensor, Adobe Flash Player 11 support, DivX/XviD support, TV-out (adapter required), USB host (via an adapter)
  • Proprietary 30-pin connector for charging and connectivity
A look into the specs you will find an Amazing Speed with a 1.4GHz Quad Core cortex A9 CPU with a massive 2GB RAM! How many phones or tablets will you come across this amount of RAM? And on top of the built in storage, you still able to store externally via a microSD card. And finally, the battery capacity, it's a WOW! 7000mAh!!! You can enjoy a long time use on this baby,,,,

And on top of that, the GN10.1 also comes with a new redesigned S Pen!

The S Pen sports the same wealth of features as before. You can use it for writing or drawing, but it can also be used to navigate the UI. With the button on its side, you can do gestures - a swipe to the left is back, a swipe down opens up the context menu and a double tap opens the S Memo mini app. A press and hold captures a screenshot.

Now, do you think this is a normal tablet? I hope not…. the only downside for this phone/tablet is the price. The price that I was informed was about RM 2,499 without contract!!!

Updates on Android Jelly Bean

Highlights of Android 4.1 a.k.a. Jelly Bean.

Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, is the fastest and smoothest version of Android yet. Jelly Bean improves on the simplicity and beauty of Android 4.0, and introduces a new Google search experience on Android.

  • Everything in Jelly Bean feels fast, fluid, and smooth. Moving between home screens and switching between apps is effortless, like turning pages in a book.
  • Jelly Bean features improved performance throughout the system, including faster orientation changes, faster responses when switching between recent apps, and smoother and more consistent rendering across the system through vsync and triple buffering.
  • Jelly Bean has more reactive and uniform touch responses, and makes your device even more responsive by boosting your device's CPU instantly when you touch the screen, and turns it down when you don't need it to improve battery life.
"Quoted from Android Official Website"

When Android Development Team decided that there are nothing much to add on into Android OS but to fine tune the OS, they really mean it. In Android 4.1 a.k.a. Jelly Bean, there was not many new add-ons to the OS. What the team promised was to improves on the simplicity and to enhance user experience. The first thing is the improvement on speed. Why? If you ever used IOS or even Windows 7.5 Mango OS, you will find that out of the 3 OS, Android is the slowest among the 3. For this new update, they finally improve on the speed.

Here is a video on the comparison between Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean on a Galaxy Nexus.(1st model to get official update to JB).

Pretty impressive, huh….

Just to Share - Bluetooth Headset -

Question: What is a Bluetooth Headset?

Answer: It's a headset that connected to your mobile phones over low-frequency radio waves in the 2.4GHz range. No cables or wires are needed, and the only requirement is that both devices be Bluetooth compatible.

Some samples of BT headsets in the market.

Too Complex? Here the simple term. "Bluetooth headset is a device that enable you to speak on the phone without holding your phone"

Problem is, many of us are aware what a Bluetooth headset is, but how many of us are using it? On the road, we still can see many people are driving and using their mobile phone at the same time. This violates the law and many end up paying for the summons or "settling out of the court".
  1. The benefits of these hands-free, wireless devices are obvious, particularly in the wake of state and local laws that require the use of a headset while driving. Just ask around and see how many people got a summon for talking while driving? An entry BT model costs less than RM100 but a summon can easily cost you RM150 - RM300. Which is cheaper? You do the maths.
  2. It's a safer way to talk while driving. While driving it keeps your hands on the wheel and not plastered to your ear, personally I DO NOT recommend this except in emergencies, but I know many people are going to do this so at least it is safer than having one hand on the wheel. But please remember driving is difficult enough without any distractions so the more things you try to do the more dangerous it becomes.
  3. Convenience. When you are making business (or personal) calls you are free to roam around the house or office to be more productive, if your are calling somewhere that puts you on hold (for the next available agent) without a Bluetooth you tend to sit around waiting for a extended period of time, being unproductive, but try this with a Bluetooth wireless headset.
Those are some of the advantages of using a bluetooth headset. For more advantage, you can google around and you will be surprise what a BT headset can do. Remember technology is a great thing and can save you a lot of time if used wisely so take advantage of any product that can make your quality of life better; this is why I do recommend a Bluetooth wireless headset.

Hi, This is David, I am using a bluetooth headset too.

- Just to Updates - Digi LTE Upgrading Works

Many of the Digi customers are really frustrated nowadays due to bad coverages, bad receptions, and all the "BAD" about Digi. But do you know what happening now are temporarily and will resolves in a few months time? This is what happening.

The last few years have seen an unprecedented change in how Malaysians are communicating.

Social networking, online video streaming, digital music downloads and cloud services all continue to become more and more mainstream. Giving more Malaysians powerful new tools to connect, create and collaborate with one another.

And so, just as we've seen your telecommunication needs evolve, so must our network infrastructure evolve to keep pace.

After the upgrade, our network will be able to provide High Speed Internet covering at least 95.8% of all Malaysia, as well as being fully-equipped to handle LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology.

With a more stable network, we aim to provide the best Internet experience for all our customers, with better quality and faster voice & Internet connections across a wider coverage area.

We will be the first fully LTE-equipped network in Malaysia by 2013.
The Current Upgrading Status as at 13th August 2012,

Apple iPhone 5 News

For those who are curious on the latest development of the new iPhone a.k.a. iPhone 5.

Just to Share - Buying New Mobile Phones -

Been away from my blog for the past few days due to personal holidays. During that period, I went shopping in KL and visited some Mobile Phone Shops. Unlike KK, most shops do allows potential buyers to "test drive" the phone before buying. But what happen if that customer did not buy? Of Cos the repack the phone into its original position in the box waiting for new buyer.

Today would like to share my view on buying a new mobile phone. I think festive season is coming and some of us already starting to shop around for a new phone.

Guides on Buying New Phones

  1. Insists on getting an unopened sealed set. Why? You can be assured that NO ONE actually used the phone before, whether its for demo purpose (test drive) or just to take photos so that seller can put it up for online sales or marketing purposes or worse, its a refurbished unit. Do keep in mind, as long as the original seal is tempered, that phone should considered a USED PHONE!
  2. Insists on getting an Original Unit, not an AP set. Why? While an AP set are selling slightly cheaper than the original set, most people will find it troublesome when you need to claim for warranty. My experiences told me that the 3rd party service centre will look for reason to void your warranty. e.g. telling you that your sweat penetrated the phone and damaged the board, which means its exposed to water and therefore not covered by warranty! Or they will tell you that they fix it but it will no longer under warranty since there are modifications to the phone, although your phone is only 3 days old when send for service! So my advise is, pay the extra cents to get the original manufacturer warranty. Anything happens, just bring it to any service centre in the country for warranty claims... No QUESTION asked!
  3. Insists on opening the box yourself. This affects nothing but since you are paying for the phone, why should you let someone who is not paying having the privileges to open it?! Leave the excitement to yourself! I noticed this happens a lot of times especially if you are buying from Telcos. The staff tends to "help" you to open the phone for warranty registration. (Hello... i pay for it and I think I deserve to open it myself, ok?)
Guides on Buying a Used Phones
  1. Make sure that person you are buying from are trustworthy, someone you know or at least do ask around those who bought from him before. You do not want your hard earned $$$ to cheated, right?
  2. Try to arrange for COD (cash on Delivery) whenever possible but always arrange in a crowded place so if anything happens, there are people who can help.
  3. Make sure the phone is not a stolen item. Be more alert on those are selling extremely cheap as it might be a stolen item. (in Malaysia, even buying a stolen item is an offence). Ask for the proof of purchase from the seller. Note: those selling only the phones without any accessories (charger in particular), be extra careful with these people.
  4. During the arrangement for meet-up, remember to remind the seller to charge the phone so that you will have enough battery life to examine the phone. Most used set do not come with warranty, so if you are not able to check on the phone during the transaction, who will be at loss? You decide.
Above are some of my thoughts, some experienced buyer mights have even more thoughts. Please share so everyone will able to learn something.

You might be paying for these….

BUT

These might be what you actually get!!

Online Shopping -The Good and Bad -

What Is Online Shopping and what are the Good and Bad about it?

Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce whereby consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet without an intermediary service. An online shop, eshop, e-store, Internet shop, webshop, webstore, online store, or virtual store evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks-and-mortar retailer or shopping centre. The process is called business-to-consumer (B2C) online shopping. The largest online retailing corporations are EBay and Amazon.com, both are US-based. Apart from online retailing corporations, there are also many forms of online business such as Selling in Social Websites, Forums, etc.

 Some of the Online Merchants

Have you ever shop online? How is your experience?
Have you never shop online? Why?
Why are people afraid to shop online?
And why online business will be a business system that will be the future of business?

My Experience
I started my online purchase since 2008 and it was a Motorola bluetooth headset that cost RM2xx. Online purchase had never cross my mind as there are too much of online fraud cases. But I decided to try a purchase since the price difference between Sabah and KL price are around RM100. So when I decided to transfer money to the company, I am crossing my finger hoping it won't be a fraud. 3 days after the transaction, I received the item in a perfect condition. Since then, most of my gadgets I started to buy from online seller.

What about you? Do you have any good or bad experience to share? Feel free to share in the comment below.

To me, everything in this world is not perfect and there are always room for improvement. I would like to take this opportunity to share the Good and Bad about online retailing.

THE GOOD
  1. Most online store are open 24/7. You can shop at your own convenience.
  2. You do not need to Q for hours just to pay during the Sales Promotion.
  3. Similar payment method as retail shop. Most online store accepts Credit Card, Debit Card, Cash transaction via online banking, paypal, etc.
  4. Some online store put up buyer's testimonial, reviews for your reference.
  5. You do not need to go to US or Italy to get your favourite brands. You can stay in your room and everything is just a click away.
  6. You can get cheaper price for the same item you pay in the retail store.
  7. You won't get ROBBED or worse, RAPE & KILLED while getting to your car in the CAR PARK! I'm sure you read newspaper and there are so many cases happening recently
  8. Comparison of price. You do not need to go to the next store to write down the price before deciding which store sells at a cheaper price.
  9. No pressure. You can spend as long as you want in the online store to browse the items without a salesperson following you as if you are a thief.
  10. Spoilt for choices. You can't find the items you are looking for from this seller? Just move to the next seller. Again, it just a click away.

THE BAD

  1. Hidden cost. In retail, you pay for what written on the price tag. For online purchase, you might need to consider some of the hidden cost such as delivery charges, handling fees and tax especially if you are buying from overseas.
  2. Some international online store are not available locally. For example, amazon do not ship most of the items to Malaysia.
  3. You can't try or inspect the item. Most of us like to feel and touch before we decided to purchase. For online purchase, while most offers warranty against manufacturing defects, it will cause inconvenience if the items are found to be faulty.
  4. You can't talk / consult immediately when you need to. Only a small percentage of web store offering online chat to assists buyer in their FAQ.
  5. Security and Privacy. This tend to be the biggest concern for online user. When you buy online, you expose the risk of revealing your credit details to the store. I have friends that bought movies ticket and his card are used for unauthorised purchases by someone he do not know. However, most Online Store are aware of this and it's recommended that one should be paying attention to HTTPS protocols, installing free spyware removal tools, knowing how to identify online scams and hoaxessurfing anonymously, and keeping your Web usage private are all smart ways to address any privacy and security issues.

Those are some of the Pros and Cons of buying online. For those who wanted to know more, you can google up for more info. I mentioned that online selling will be the future of business and these are some of my thoughts.

  1. Online Store eliminates the need of retail shop thus minimise the cost of the business. This will enable seller to sell at a lower price while maintaining their profit margin.
  2. Accessibility. Everyone can shop online with their computers, tablets and even mobile phones. You can buy not only from the shop in your neighbourhood but also from neighbouring countries. You can shop anywhere even when you are in the TOILET!
  3. Personal Safety. While most system have their flaws, you can only lose money when shopping online while you endangered yourself when going to the retail store. Technology improves every day and so does internet security. As long as you took precautions on the security of your computers, you can minimise the risk of fraud. But how many shopping centres improves their security in the mall? Take a minute and think about it

Cheers....
